There is a lot of great wine out there, which is why I’m here to help. The Napa Quilt wine review video will give you the information you need to sip or not sip. Hopefully this quick video will help you decide whether or not to spend your hard earned cash on this bottle of wine. Watch the video to see my wine review.

This is a wine review of the 2015 Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Wine Label

There are several interesting things on the label of this wine.

  1. First, the alcohol percentage is over 15%, which is high even for a Napa Cab. This means the fruit was VERY ripe.
  2. Second, the label has a signature. This is a clue because people who aren’t important don’t give autographs.  When you look at the back label, you see that the winemaker is Joseph Wagner, who is a fifth generation winemaker in California. If you’re not familiar with the name, Joe Wagner is a rock star in the wine world. His family founded Caymus Vineyards in 1972, one of the most well-known premium brands in Napa.
  3. The third interesting thing on the back label is the terminology “vinted & bottled.” This means that the wine was bottled at this location, but it wasn’t made there. If you go to Napa as a tourist, there is no Copper Cane Winery for you to tour. Joseph Wagner is working with other wineries to make his wine. This is smart, because he doesn’t pay the high overhead of a winery.

Vinted and Bottled

Why should you care? Vinted and bottled wines often allow you to get a great wine at a better price price. This wine is about $45 a bottle, but it compares with wines in the $60 price range. I LOVE getting a good value when I buy wine, so this wine has become one of my favorite weekend wines.

When you smell it, you get aromas of cassis, cocoa, licorice and vanilla. When you taste it, the wine fulfills all of its promises. It’s medium-bodied, silky smooth, and filled with complexity. You can pair this with any red meat, but I love it with Angus Beef sliders, especially if they’re topped with a dollop of truffle mayonnaise. If you’re not in the mood for red meat, then you can pair it with a glass. Yes, it’s just that good.

I’m giving the Quilt Napa Cab two very enthusiastic thumbs up.

Until next time,

Cheers!
