If your weekend routine includes making mimosas, then you will love this Mango Mimosa recipe. It’s like having a tropical stay-cation without leaving home. This mango mimosa recipe wins on several counts. First, mangoes are more flavorful than orange juice and takes your mimosa recipe to the next level. Second, the frozen mango juice does double-duty as an ice cube, keeping your tropical mango mimosa cold without watering it down with a traditional ice cube.

 

How Do You Make a Mango Mimosa?

 

One of the best parts of making mimosas is that you can use inexpensive bubbly. This is not the time to use your expensive French Champagne. Go ahead and use a lesser quality as the tropical fruit flavor is so prominent in the mango mimosas. When I’m making a mango mimosa for one, I like to use the mini bottles (as shown in the video below). If you’re making a  mango mimosas for a group, go ahead and use the full bottle.

The directions are simple. In fact, you can watch this quick video and get the gist. But if you want written directions, I’ve also given you the precise mango mimosa recipe below. Basically, you freeze mango puree into ice cube trays, and then put one frozen mango cube into each glass of bubbly. I like silicone ice cube trays because they release the fruity ice cube more easily than a traditional ice cube tray. Also, you don’t want to keep the mango puree in the ice cube trays indefinitely. Once they are frozen, transfer any unused mango cubes to an airtight freezer bag or container.

 

Tips and Tricks

If you live in an area where you can get fresh mangoes easily, then just peel them, slice the meat off the seed, and puree the pulp in a blender. If you can’t find fresh mangoes, don’t worry. Here are some easy tips and tricks for serving this tropical treat all year long.

  • Buy Fresh Mango Pieces: Many stores sell fresh mango meat already sliced. You can enjoy the delicious tropical mangoes without the mess.
  • Buy Frozen Mango Pieces: You can get frozen mango all year long. Keep them in your freezer. If you buy frozen mango pieces, you still need to puree them, though. The pureed mango dissolves into the sparkling wine evenly, flavoring the entire glass, whereas a single mango cube is just garnish.
  • Buy Mango Pulp: With the advent of on-the-go convenience, mango pulp is available in most many grocery stores and specialty stores already pureed. Just pour the mango puree into ice cube trays and freeze for a few hours. If you are pressed for time, this is the simplest option.

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Mangoes
  • 1 bottle Sparkling Wine

Instructions
 

  • Puree Mangoes. Remove the skin from mangoes and cut into cubes. Discard the pit. Put the mango pieces in a blender and puree. (You can skip this step and purchase mango puree from your local health or specialty store.)
  • Freeze Mango Puree. Pour mango puree into an ice cube tray. Put in freezer uncovered for several hours until completely frozen. 
  • Making Mimosas. Pop the frozen mango ice cubes out of the tray and into a bowl.
  • Pop Out Mango Cubes. The mango ice ices thaw quickly, so use what you need and transfer the remaining frozen mango cubes into a sealed freezer-safe container and return to the freezer.
  • Top with Champagne. Put one mango cube into a champagne flute. Pour sparkling wine over it. Let it rest for a moment to give the mango ice cube the chance to melt into the bubbly.
  • Enjoy!
